Gin, Saint Germain

I’ll Have A St. Germain Gin And Tonic

For my birthday this year I was given a beautiful bottle of Saint Germain from my friend Ilanna. Saint Germain is an elderflower liqour that tastes citrusy and sweet, with only subtle flower hints. It’s lovely. Especially when mixed. Ilanna said it goes well with gin. I found a recipe for a variation on the classic gin & tonic. It was wonderfully refreshing, and light, and became my summer anthem of 2019.

A couple of things you should know about Saint Germain:

  1. Most liquors don’t go bad, but Saint Germain is made without preservatives, so be sure to finish the bottle within 5 months (that shouldn’t be a problem).
  2. Saint Germain is very sweet. A little goes a long way.
  3. An elderflower is a pretty, white, starry flower that is edible obviously, or else this would be a whole different post.
