I’ll Have A Cranberry Champagne Cocktail

To celebrate my newest adventure in blogging, and to help me get through the 2017 holiday season in the merriest of moods I’ve made myself a cranberry champagne cocktail. It’s made up of cranberry-infused vodka (a fabulous, and versatile recipe I got from The Red Head Baker) and champagne although any sparkling wine will do.

You must set aside some time in order for the vodka to pick up all of the cranberry essence, so let’s get going! You will need to create a cranberry, sugar, and water concoction. You’ll do this in a saucepan over medium heat. Then you’ll pour this ruby-red loveliness into a large mason jar. Drop in a citrus peel (orange, lemon, or clementine will do), and then pour in your favorite vodka. I’m all about Brooklyn Republic right now. Screw on the lid, give it a shake, and set aside for 3 days. In the mean time, why don’t you blast some holiday music, and make these thumbprint cookies.

When ready, strain out the cranberries and citrus peel, and pour the cranberry-infused vodka into another large mason jar. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Next, pour about 3 to 4 tablespoons of the cranberry-infused vodka into a champagne flute, and then fill the rest with your favorite bubbly. Toast to 2017. Toast to the new year ahead. And toast to you. Cheers!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 strip clementine peel
  • 2 cups favorite vodka

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat stir together the cranberries, sugar, and water until the sugar has dissolved and the cranberries have popped open. Remove from heat and set aside to cool completely.

Drop the clementine peel in a large mason jar. Pour in the cooled cranberry mixture, and then the vodka. Tightly screw on the lid and give a shake. Set the jar aside at room temperature anywhere from 3 days to a month. Shake the jar everyday.

Strain the cranberry-infused vodka into another large mason jar, and refrigerate. Now you're good to go! Add it to your favorite cocktail!
